Swedish Massage (Back to Top)

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Neuromuscular Therapy (Back to Top)

A comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system with the structure and the form of the musculo-skeletal system.

NMT is based on neurological law that explains how the central nervous system maintains homeostatic balance. These same laws dictate how the central nervous system initiates and perpetuates pain response and controls the musculo-skeletal system. In short, the body can refer pain away from the root cause of the pain. This, many times, results in the symptom of a problem being treated, rather than the underlying cause.

During a treatment we will palpate the soft tissues to determine if there are ischemic, trigger point, nerve compression and/or entrapment possiblities. The pressure to be used during treatment varies depending on age, fitness, nutritional health, postural pattern, and the extent of trauma and toxicity level in the tissues.

The proper level of pressure will be used to elicit a mild state of discomfort. If pressure is too light, it does not produce the necessary stimulation of nerve receptors to produce the desired therapeutic response. However, pressing too hard can cause the body to treat the pressure as an intrusion. Optimal success is achieved by applying pressure to trigger points or ischemic areas 3-4 times for 8-12 seconds rather than a longer duration. This is because the therapist's goal is to interrupt the physiopathological reflex circuits.

Sports Massage (Back to Top)

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

CranioSacral Therapy (Back to Top)

CranioSacral Therapy is a bodywork method that focuses on gently stimulating your CranioSacral system (membranes and fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord) to heal the body by improving the functioning of the central nervous system. CST effectively complements your body’s natural healing process, and has been known to help alleviate a wide variety of problems including:

  • Central Nervous System Disorders

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

  • TMJ

  • Fibromyalgia

Myofascial Release (Back to Top)

The focus is on the fascial system (connective tissue). Physical trauma, an inflammatory or infectious process, or structural imbalance from dental malocclusion, osseous (bone) restriction, leg length discrepancy, and pelvic rotation all may create inappropriate strain. This technique uses light to moderte stretching to release the fascia. This allows the individual's self-correcting mechanism to come into play and alleviate symptoms and restore proper function.

Soft Tissue Mobilization:
The Soft Tissue Mobilization techniques are the least gentle and most superficial techniques and are designed to break up superficial cross restrictions in the collagen of the fascia (i.e. scar tissue).

Contraindications:
Any malignancy anywhere in the body, acute circulatory conditions: aneurysm, blood clot, hematoma, any open wound, sutures from surgery, fracture, and hypersensitivity to areas on the skin

Trigger Point Therapy (Back to Top)

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points.  Pressure will be applied at the client's comfort level. This process can be uncomfortable at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Lymphatic Drainage (Back to Top)

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system.  As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Pregnancy Massage (Back to Top)

Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.  Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.

During the session a "Prego Pillow" will be used. This pillow is made specifically for pregnant women and is a rare treat for the new mother to relax in a face down position. The "Prego Pillow" helps to relieve back pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy.

Reflexology (Back to Top)

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet.  Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body.  According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet.  Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

Hot Stone Therapy (Back to Top)

Hot Stone Therapy is a type of bodywork that uses deep penetrating heat and/or alternating cold from specialized stones.  The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven.
Stone Therapy delivers a profound expansion and contraction inside your circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms.  This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system.

Raindrop Therapy (Back to Top)

Raindrop Therapy combines the art of aromatherapy with the techniques of Vita Flex and massage in the application of essential oils to various areas of the body.

Raindrop Therapy is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. Raindrop Therapy is based on the theory that many types of scoliosis and spinal misalignments are caused by viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine. These pathogens create inflammation, which in turn, contorts and disfigures the spinal column.

Raindrop Therapy uses a sequence of highly antimicrobial essential oils designed to simultaneously reduce inflammation and kill responsible viral agents. The principle single oils used include: Thyme, Oregano, Basil, Wintergreen or Birch, Cypress, Marjoram and Peppermint. Two essential oil blends are used: Valor and Aroma Seiz.

Aromatherapy (Back to Top)

A form of alternative and complimentary medicine based on the use of very concentrated "essential" oils from the flowers, leaves, bark, branches, rind or roots of plants with purported healing properties.

A custom blend will be made specifically for your session. Relax and let the essential oil blend sooth your body, mind, and spirit.
